What and how – dressing guide for the first date !

Getting dressed for a first date can be almost as nerve-racking as the date itself. You spend way too much time planning the perfect outfit and waiting on your closest friends to tell you what they think you should wear.

One of the ways to instantly make yourself more attractive and presentable to other people is your clothing. It’s not so much about what brand you are wearing or what trend you are following, but whether your dress fits well or what state the clothes are in. People look more confident and more put together in clothes that fit them. First dates can be terrifying, but planning your outfit doesn’t have to be.

Why is your appearance so impact full ?

You may ask why is it so important to play dress up for a first date? Your date should like you the way you are! Well, you are right to raise that issue. We all believe in being ourselves in front of our loved ones right? But then again, dresses and accessories are the only and easily changeable parts of your appearance—you can’t easily change your body shape, unless you go under the scissors, but your clothing choice is something you can definitely alter.

Personal style is like branding, what you wear does determine the type of person that you’re going to attract. It’s not about the actual piece of cloth you are wearing, but about how confident you feel and how you carry yourself in something that you feel special in and proud of.

To avoid all of this pre-date craziness, we have few tips for you to keep in mind the next time you’re getting ready for a date.

1. Avoid trends and stick to your personal style statement

A first date is not the time to experiment with the latest trends or the latest runway makeup look you liked, but it is to trust your gut. Wear what you believe you can carry off as your natural style statement.
2. Comfort is key
The rule of thumb is that most first dates do not require heels or a dress too short to your taste or anything which you are not comfortable in. If you feel uncomfortable wearing an outfit in your own home, chances are you’ll be tugging at your clothes all night long. A pair of platform heel are perfectly acceptable if you are keen to increase your height !
3. When in doubt, wear your favorite things

If you can’t decide what to pick, just wear your absolute favorite items. Pick something which have drawn compliments to you. You’ll feel more confident in something you already know and love.

4.Wearing Something Out Of Your Hamper
Your best bet for a first date outfit probably isn’t that pair of jeans that you’ve been wearing all week. Chances are that they’re all stretched out and have maybe even collected a few stains. Instead, wear something fresh.

5. Wearing according to venue

Always check out the venue online to get a feel for the setting!  A great rule of thumb for the first date: Choose a color or outfit that such that your look reflect your environment!

6.Balancing outfit

If you wear something short, balance that out with long sleeves and a low heel. When you decide to wear something backless or low cut in the front, wear it with a maxi skirt or jeans. Or if you wear a dress with all the bling then give accessories a miss or if you are wearing statement jewelry, go light with your makeup. Just balance the whole look.

1. Stressing Out Too Much

You shouldn’t stress out too much about a first date outfit—it’s what you wear on the next few dates that are more important.

2. Baring It All

The body confidence to show off some skin is not everyone is born with, but on a first date, this can be off-putting. If you really want to then pick your favorite asset to show off. If you have killer arms then wear a strapless maxi dress. Anything more and you run the risk of being viewed as trashy or too sexy.

3. Applying Too Much Makeup

You don’t want your makeup to distract your date from what you’re saying. Find the balance. Don’t over do it, but don’t under-do it either. Natural and minimal is always best for the first date.

4.Don’t go underprepared

This might sound obvious, but give yourself plenty of time to plan out what you’re wearing! Try your outfit well ahead of the date and manage the details like ironing or proper fittings.

I hope that these tips make dressing for that first date even a tad less stressful. Remember that, in the end, it’s all about wearing what makes you feel good about yourself. The most important thing is to just be yourself. Good luck with your special one !!
